Hello all!
A big big thank you to everyone who was able to share their views via our survey. I really enjoyed reading everyone's favorite things about Houston. Maybe we can add that as a discussion thread so we can share with everyone (the food! Yes!!!)!
Meanwhile, as the weather starts warming, and humidifying, up just a bit here, my co-chairs and I started mulling over discussion topics truly relevant to Houston groups. Whether you are trying to trouble shoot in a power outage or anticipating what to do while waiting to see if a gulf storm hooks just a little to the east yet again, managing events in the weather-scape we have here can be challenging. What tools do you currently use to cope with rough weather events? Anyone have experience with the cancelation utility? Do your organizations have generators to try and keep things going, or have you had to use NSCAN devices in off-line mode? I know I use reports like crazy to try and anticipate how an event will sell. As a Garden, we are especially dependent on the weather report!
Looking forward to hearing your experiences, and feel free to ask questions in the thread!

After meeting someone at the conference in Chicago who suggested this, I signed up for The Performing Arts Readiness Project. They host webinars and have several resources.https://performingartsreadiness.org/the-project/#:~:text=The%20Performing%20Arts%20Readiness%20project,organization%20out%20of%20business%20overnight.Their pocket disaster response resource guide:https://www.nedcc.org/assets/media/documents/dPlan/PRR-Whatis-instructions-2020-0901.pdfHouston Arts Alliance also has a disaster preparedness section as well.https://ready.haatx.com/https://files.haatx.com/docs/disaster-services/HAADisaste%20ReportFINALNov17.pdf
Houston's own Rachel Applegate (Past Member) had a really great TLCC presentation a few years ago on Disaster recovery and operations, I figured it is worth sharing.

Thanks for the mention... times have surely changed since that presentation, especially with all the wonderful new Tess tools and utilities. Happy to share all of our processes for cancellations - which with COVID, we've become especially good at doing ;-(
We also have a page that highlights the tools available: https://www.tessituranetwork.com/en/Support/Resources/Business-Continuity-Planning
Yay for new tools! Boo for them still being relevant.
I forgot about NCAPER as well.https://www.ncaper.org/
Wow! What a great resource, I hadn't heard about this before.
This is wonderful. Thank you and everyone who has commented with resources.
