Welcome: Friends of the National Zoo and Museum of the Bible!

DCTUG friends, please join me in welcoming two new organizations to the DC-area Tessitura Community!  Friends of the National Zoo and Museum of the Bible recently joined the Network.

Since 1958 the Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ) has been providing support to the Smithsonian’s National Zoo. Since then FONZ has raised millions of dollars to support the critical work of the National Zoo and the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute – including species preservation, animal care, Zoo-based events and volunteer Zoo staff. They are committed to the mission of the Smithsonian National Zoo to save species – for us and generations to come.

The 430,000-square-foot Museum of the Bible is currently under construction in Washington, D.C. The museum will provide guests with an immersive and personalized experience as they explore the history, narrative and impact of the Bible. The Museum will be an unparalleled experience, using cutting-edge technology to bring the Bible to life. It will have three permanent sections and space for temporary exhibits. The museum is set to open in fall of 2017.

Welcome! We look forward to having you as part of the DC-area Tessitura User Group!
