Changes to Payment Authorisations

We have recently started to look into what will be required for the upcoming changes to the payment authorisations from signature to PIN and wanted to start a conversation with Australian users to see how other organisations will be handling the change.

We currently use integrated EFTPOS terminals for transactions made using EFTPOS only. In person credit card transactions are processed through the payment screen and using a swipe unit on the keyboard to store encrypted credit card details in Tessitura.

With the changes that will come into effect on 1 August we understand that these credit card transactions will now need to go through the EFTPOS terminal also in order to allow for PIN entry for authorisation. The concern we have is that this will mean that we lose our ability to store the card numbers which has implications on our processes for refunds and cancellations.

Has anyone else started looking into what the implications are for their organisation?  Is it possible to pass encrypted credit card information through to Tessitura from the EFTPOS terminals based on a payment method or account type?

We were wondering whether you would mind sharing what your current processes are and plans for the new PIN only authorisations are with us.

Any information you are willing to share will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Mardi.
