During Lean Coffee today we were talking about managing people's expectations of project time lines. I mentioned that I have a report request document I make people fill out if they have a report they would like, which helps to work out exactly what they are trying to achieve. I also ask them for an Excel with an example of the format of the report (and an indication of where that data is in Tessitura (so where they see it in the customer record)I've attached a copy of that document as people were interested in seeing it.
It is really old (as you'll see from the screen shots!) and I also borrowed it from someone else in the Tessitura community and then amended it to fit my needs, so I can't take any credit for the initial idea. I can't remember who It was I stole it from, otherwise, I would definitely credit them, as I find it so useful.

This is so great of you to share - thank you!!
Caryl, I'm sitting here laughing -- I made this ages ago! (Maybe back in 2006 or 2007?) :) I've shared it to the community and I've heard mention of it before, but it's great to see others are using some version of it. We also still use this (although it's been updated over the years), but it's a good starting point for end users and report developers to speak each other's language. Also, by asking the end user to plan out what data they want to see and how it should look, it puts some of the ownership of the project on them, which is key to a successful project.
Sorry I missed the discussion. I'm hoping that once my kids are back in in-person school meetings will be a little easier for me to attend (which may be a good discussion topic for this group). ;)

Thank you a Katie! I know I’ve had it for years and love it because it makes people think about what they actually want from the report. I’m so pleased you’ve seen it and can take the proper credit for it.
Thanks, Caryl! This is wonderful and I am going to try to put a version of this in place at the SLSO.
