Hola my friends of the global majority!
With the new year back in gear that means that work is back in session. It also means that organizations have and will be having conferences soon.
Below I'll have some conferences that are on my radar in the upcoming months. If you have any that you are going to and/or if there are resources to attend for new folks or BIPOC folks, please continue this thread.
APAP (Association of Performing Arts Professionals) - https://apap365.org/conference/ Jan 12 - 16 | New York City
If any of you are attending and want to meet up with folks, please feel free to reply and see if others are around. If you do know of anyone there within the Tessitura Network, take some cute pics and post, too!
SphinxConnect - https://www.sphinxconnect.org/ Jan 25 - 27 | Detroit, Michigan Sphinx often has fellowships to afford attending. More information here: https://www.sphinxconnect.org/fellowships I will be speaking at a panel at this conference and would love to see some of you there!
AFP Icon (Association of Fundraising Professionals) - https://afpicon.com/ April 7 - 9 | Toronto, CanadaTheir diverse scholarship deadline has passed, but wanted to flag for next time.
TCG (Theatre Communications Group) - https://tcg.org/ June 20 - 22 | Chicago, Illinois
They have both scholarship and volunteer opportunities. If you are planning on coming, let me know cause Chicago is my home city and always down to hang with folks!
These are just some that have come up on my radar, but I'm sure there are many more. Let us know what others you are going to, and if resources exist. Also, check in with your supervisor if there is money in the budget to send you to these conferences. Professional development is important! Cheers to learning, presenting, and connecting at future conferences!
All my best, Carlos
