For this Building HueSpaces celebratory day-long convening, we will focus on the sustainability of arts and cultural organizations and continued growth of our communities. The historic Weeksville Heritage Center serves as the gathering site, and as an incredible and withstanding example of how an arts and cultural organization can preserve and sustain the legacy of a community. Everardo Jefferson, Commissioner of New York City Landmarks Preservation and the Principal Architect of Weeksville’s Cultural Center will share insights into both his roles and the significance of the historic site. Other speakers throughout the day will highlight vast efforts in preserving Black communities all across New York’s five boroughs, from built spaces to designated areas. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn, network, and spark creativity while being in community with peers. In this culminating Building HueSpaces event we look toward the future and celebrate the power of collaboration and community.
