Hi folks,
I've been busily working on my TLCC presentation and in my reading cam across a great article by Dr Nancy Doyle. I'm always happy to read her thoughts. If you don't know her, amongst other things she is the founder of Genius Within - a neurominority work assistance program in the UK.
This however is an article for us all. You may have caught the media furore about Naomi Osaka making the decision not to do press interviews during the French Open on mental health grounds. The article addresses the difference and stigma of mental health and the way that being proactive about your mental health is still not fully accepted in the way that physical health is. Additionally there is a little bit in there about neurominorities and respecting each other differences and boundaries.
I'm going to quote the closing quote because it's always relevant and needed
For those dealing with their own mental health battles, I leave you with some wise words from Akua Opong, a mental health champion at London Stock Exchange Group: “Mental health issues are tough and can start out of nowhere. Reach out for help. Set boundaries and seek to collaborate with your employer on the solution. Your mental wellbeing is your top priority and they should understand that. Solutions need to be sustainable.”
