Below is a list of topics to inspire session proposals (from Gill Tasker). If any of these sound familiar, then we’d love to hear from you or your team. And if you have an idea that’s not on this list, we're happy to hear that as well!

How...

Your education or finance department uses Tessitura
You've transitioned activities and roles to Tessitura v16
Your website provides self-service opportunities
Your group sales process was made more efficient

What...

Integrations you've built with your Tessitura system
HTML templates you've customized
Customer journeys you've created for your organization
Dashboards you've built using the Interactions cube

Proposals may include one to two presenters, either from the same organization or from different organizations. Presenters and panelists selected for community-led sessions will receive a 25% discount on conference registration. If you want to present but would like a partner, please post here! For example, are you an Analytics guru and would like to make others more comfortable using dashboards? Email my friend Elizabeth Darling from VMEA, who is looking for a co-presenter (edarling@virginiahistory.org).

We’re actively seeking speakers who identify as Black, Indigenous, Latinx, or a person of color; gender-nonconforming or LGBTQIA+; having a disability; neurodivergent; and other historically excluded identities.

TLCC 2023 Washington, D.C. Scholarship Opportunities!

Hello Universities Group, and Happy Tuesday! I wanted to make sure you all are aware of the TLCC 2023 Washington, D.C. scholarship opportunities that are available.

This year, Tessitura is offering 10 conference scholarships (7 diversity scholarships and 3 emerging leaders scholarships). Scholars will be awarded complimentary conference registration. This includes:

All sessions
All networking events
All conference meals and refreshment breaks (except Tuesday evening, which is a build-your-own networking night)
Access to conference materials and presentations

We made the switch to TMS almost a year ago and it's been way better than Worldpay. The reporting is far more accurate for sure, and the checkout process took some getting used to, but it's been totally doable, even with our weird customizations. We opted not to do the tokenization transfer cause it was wildly expensive, but the costs otherwise have been pretty comparable to Worldpay. It's definitely a process, we had several calls leading up to go-live and had some delays, but are really happy with the change so far.

Good morning from University of Washington,

I'm sure many of you experienced the notification about the ending contracts with WorldPay and Windcave. Has anyone in this group switched to Tessitura Merchant Services or in the process of switching to Tessitura Merchant Services? I was wandering if we can schedule a discussion Zoom meeting about the pros and cons of switching over to TMS and the how the process works. We are currently still contracted with Windcave and are living in fear of the dreadful notification of our contract ending since we would have to jump through many hoops to switch to something else being a state run university. My colleagues and I would like to hear from you about to what to expect.

AS I understand it, we are in the queue for contract review by Tessitura, and after that will find out what our possible implementation schedule would be. Since we are planning to devote the whole summer to our v16 upgrade (hopefully with better results than our v16 upgrade attempt last summer) we assume we'll be looking at autumn at the earliest.

We are stuck at the Nebraska State treasurer at the moment. They want us to provide a breakdown of how much more TMS will cost compared to the fees we're paying now, in comparison of what it would cost to convert to a different ticketing system. We have had to reach out to other ticketing softwares in order to collect that data, but it looks like our argument will mostly be centered around the loss of functionality if we were to move. But if we fail to make a compelling case, then it's within the realm of possibility that we might be forced to switch, but thankfully we have a lot more time to convince them now.

TLCC Call for Presenters Now Open!

Hello, University friends! The call for presenters for TLCC Washington, D.C. is officially open!

All are welcome to submit presentation proposals, no matter your experience with Tessitura. Presenters will receive a 25% discount on the conference registration fee, and support will be available to help you prepare your presentation. Session proposals are due by Wednesday, 10 April. Learn more and submit your ideas.

Dates and location:

TLCC Washington, D.C. will take place Sunday, 11 August through Wednesday, 14 August at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center.

Registration information:

Registration opens Tuesday, 30 April.
Early bird registration $1,595 through 31 May
Regular registration $1,745 through 12 July
Last call registration $1,995 through 6 August

Virtual Viewing Pass option:

A Virtual Viewing Pass will include live access to all general sessions and 48 concurrent breakout sessions, as well as recordings of those sessions.
Registration for the Virtual Viewing Pass is $575 through last call on 6 August.
On demand access to conference content after the conference is $625.

Imagine Your Ideal Box Office Space - Thoughts?

Hi all!

I hope this post finds you well! The University of Virginia is in the planning stages for our new performing arts center, and I need help! We are beginning the meetings discussing box office, front of house, etc., and I need to crowd source some ideas. What do you like about your box office space? What do you not like? If you could picture your perfect working space, what would it include? What does your staffing look like? What equipment do you use? To give you an idea, the box office would be supporting:

-A new larger performing hall
-A new smaller performing hall
-Our current Drama Department (three theatres in the drama building which will continue with our current box office space)
-Our current historical music venue (846 seats with a mobile box office)
-Additional venues during the film festival (an additional two venues with a separate seasonal box office)

Thank you all in advance for your help and ideas! I have never built a box office from the ground up and want to make sure I am covering all my bases. I figured you all would be the best people to ask!

Be sure that your ticket office, especially if there is a glass window has an installed hearing loop for your patrons with hearing loss. Your mobile box office can have a portable loop to move with it. UVA has set the gold standard for all of higher ed with your proclamation about installing hearing loops in new/remodeling construction!!! So I KNOW that your performance spaces and meeting rooms will have hearing loops as your assistive listening systems.

Biggest problem I have had at two different box offices is that they face the setting sun. Horrid to not be able to see computer screens - or patron faces!

Make sure if you have glass between you and the patron, that your EMV readers can fit through the hole for the patron to use.

Do not put the computer monitors under glass. Make sure cables are easily accessible for replacement of computers and phones, etc.

We didn't make it past their rates. OSU has lower negotiated rates so our team wouldn't let us move forward. We didn't even get to the contract review portion. Will be following this post to see how your journey goes.

Universities on TMS - Anyone in Virginia?

Hi all,

Guess what - it is me asking about TMS again! I know we are all shocked :) I know there are a few of us in the process of migrating to TMS. We are hoping to finally start moving forward, but we are extremely worried that UVA procurement will not sign the contract, since we are unable to make any addendums or changes. We are especially worried about them not signing since Adyen is not US-based. Has anyone had any luck with this, or has it been a barrier for anyone? It would be especially helpful if anyone has had success within the Commonwealth of Virginia, but I'm accepting advice from all over! Anyone having issues with "Remote Desktop License Issue" error messages?

A month or 2 ago our ticket office starting getting blue pop up screens titled "Remote Desktop License Issue". The message would go on to explain that their time in Tessitura would be limited to 60 minutes until the issue is resolved. It was rare and sporadic at first but just today, almost every single ticket office user got that pop up and was kicked out of Tessitura. They can usually switch browsers and that corrects it at for a time. We have an open ticket with Tessitura but haven't seen a resolution yet. We also don't want to ignore the possibility it might be an issue with our organizations computer/network. I know as university affiliated organizations our IT protocols are a bit more complex than some other organizations. So I'm wondering if any other fellow university Tessitura users have experienced this issue and if so, did you find the issue to be with your organization/university's IT systems or with Tessitura?

This just started happening to us today - it seems like some users get kicked off and can log back in, but I had another user get kicked off who has not been able to log back in. I've also been looking through responses to your other post on the IT forum! I guess I will go ahead and open a ticket a now too, even though it looks to be included in the recent hosting incidents!

I'd do that, I don't think this is a university-specific issue. No word from Tessitura support? I do have a very dim memory of this, but it's also something that crops up on my work machines occasionally, so maybe that's what I'm thinking of. Or some older forum post. I think if it happened to us it was long enough ago that the ticket would be in Task, not Hello, so I'm not coming up with anything there.

I didn't think to see if it was a Citrix issue. I googled the issue and did find an article on it but not sure if this is the one you were referencing: https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX460004/remote-desktop-license-issue-with-rds-per-device-cals

I don't quite understand everything they are talking about in it, but it seems fair to think that completely uninstalling and reinstalling Citrix to each computer might help reset their license settings and hopefully resolve the issue. Our first reported issue I think was 10/5 which is only about a few weeks after yours so it seems weird that this just popped up for both of us now. I might add this to the general Admin/IT forum in case any other non-university organizations might have seen it as well.

Our KC Consortium is also experiencing the error and users are being kicked from Tessitura from all four ticketing offices. Started on 9/19 when we initially opened a ticket with Tessitura Support. I found articles on Citrix Knowledge Base dated from June 2022 around this error wondering why we’re just now feeling this. We're in our busiest time of the year so hopefully we see resolution soon.
