Hi Grace,

Here in Pittsburgh, I recommend pricing rules to accomplish this. Rollover everything into the non-discounted price, and have your rules set up to do the price type change into the discount. The rules will fire on the orders when they are loaded to renew.
Another way I've seen this done is through a seat cancelation and then re-roll into the non-discounted price... but that makes me twitchy as there is opportunity for error there.
With rules, since the rollover applies the non-discounted price, the "risk" if the rule doesn't fire/something is wrong is that the patron pays full price and you could credit them if needed. With a seat cancelation and reroll, there is the potential for missing someone and dropping their seats prematurely.

I was just wondering how other companies do price type changes for subcription renewals. FOr example, when early bird pricing shuts off. Do you use pricing rules? Do you manually change them all?

I'll be curious what others do as well. We use price type dates to change to regular pricing automatically. Then I also remove access to the early bird price type from the web user since I still want early bird available internally.

Partial View Seating After On-Sale?

Hi all,

For the Virginia Theatre Festival this year, we will be using a facility that we have already created BUT have the possibility that certain seats will be partial view that have not been partial view in the past, due to how the set is built. Of course, we will not know this until after the set is built, which will be several weeks after tickets go on-sale. Have any of you dealt with the predicament before? If so, how do you handle it? From what I know, seat type (partial view) is a seat type which is handled at the facility level, meaning it cannot be changed after tickets have been sold in that facility (I think). Or can the seat type be changed/updated if none have been sold using the Facility Updates utility? If they cannot be changed once on-sale, we could separate these tickets in their own zone and put them on hold until the view is confirmed, but I still do not think that handles marking them as partial view, unless there was a work around to alert customers of this through a pricing rule message, etc. Would love to hear some solutions you all have employed! Thank you in advance for your help!

Sadly, I just tested this in V16 and it doesn't work. Changing the seat type in a Facility immediately updates all performances in that Facility without running the Facility Update utility. Looks like a V16 "improvement" has removed this workaround, though I can't find any mention of it in the release notes.

Love this idea! It will save us a lot of headaches, as we often want to mark seats as restricted view for just 1 event. Genius!

We use this feature often with our Members (their specific MOS), adding this text in the TNEW_DYN_EMAIL_CONTENT System Table: "Members will receive e-tickets 24 hours before the performance."

We put language on the performance/event page in TNEW (where they select their seat); and on the performance reminder using dyn email content in system tables. Something like "All tickets will be sent out within 72 hours of the performance". I would definitely read up on and test regarding delayed delivery with Mobile Tickets/Delivery.

But more to your use-case... We too had a performance where during dress rehearsal, we learned a portion of the balcony had an obstructed view due to the set. I created a list of all the ticketholders with the now-obstructed view, and we emailed them to give them the option of upgrading their seats. And then created a pricing rule to deliver a message to any potential ticket buyers, informing them of the view restriction for the production.

To this note, we have a 'Facility Updates' season that we keep active all the time. Whenever I need to run the Utility, I switch the performance(s) to the Facility Updates season, run it, and then switch the season back.

Hey friend! I just had to make a bunch of facility updates to an on-sale performance, not too long ago. I was updating Wheelchair and Companion seat types, and if I recall correctly, I was able to make the facility changes, then run the facility update utility. Just note that the utility runs on the entire season, not select performances. But I'd try it in test first, for suuuuure!

Changing Seat Types can get *weird* after things have already been on sale. I think you can run the facility update, but depending on when the set is complete vs when your tickets are on sale, you may have sold some partial view seats. In Pittsburgh we use Hold Codes for partial view seats. Note, we have a custom site, so our site was customized to alert the patron that seats with that hold are partial view (it even changes the icon in the Select Your Own Seat Map). This hold is breakable by the web. Not sure if this functionality exists in TNEW.

I think your idea of a zone is a good one! You can limit pricing rules to only fire on specific zones, so that would be a way to alert patrons (once they've added seats to cart) that they have a partial view seat, without blasting every patron who buys a ticket with the message.

My name is Paula. I am excited to have joined as a one of the Community Chairs for Ticketing & Admissions.

I am Box Office Ticketing Manager at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. We have started the process of upgrading to v16 and are taking the opportunity to look at our process in an effort to streamline Tessitura usage, maximise out of the box functionality and minimise customisation while having a customer first focus. We then hope to be able to share this with others in the Tessitura Network. I am looking forward to learning about how other organisations address problems and opportunities and the decision-making process.

I am a member of the EU Ticketing & Admissions Group we always start each session with three priorities we are working on and/or an update on our last priorities It's a great way to inspire others and prompt discussion.

At the ROH we are working on:

v16 preparation for upgrade
24/25 season launch towards end April
assessing BO operating hours and staffing levels since the roll out of self-service cancellation in July 2023

I am looking forward to being more involved with this group.

Hello All!

I have an organization that requested the functionality to "buy your ticket and then buy one for another, the theatre will give it to a patron unable to afford a ticket" with the suggested price being $20 as they have choose your own pricing. So buy one ticket buy another ticket for donation.

Any ideas on how to accomplish this in both Tessitura and TNew?

This looks great! I am going to keep this whole thread on the back burner for if/when we want to add ours Pay It Forward to TNEW.

But...I am very excited to say, we had our first redemption today!! We've sold 4 so far (we just started this month), and our first one got redeemed this afternoon!!
