Tessiturians 2024 Set List!

Thank you to everyone who joined us on the meeting today as we unveiled the 2024 set list and brainstormed ideas for song lyrics!

Below is the proposed set list - in no particular order (of course subject to change, but mostly complete):

Hello Friends!

As you may have seen in a previous post, the 2024 set list has been announced. At this time, we're looking for people interested in composing lyrics for some of the songs. From our 2024 set list, these are the songs that we feel would benefit from altered lyrics:

Kelly Clarkson - Since U Been Gone
Peggy Lee - Big Spender
Amy Winehouse - Valerie

Please comment on this thread prior to April 11 to let us know you're interested in writing lyrics for a song. Also please indicate your top 2 picks. Assignments will be made via email by April 16 with a deadline for completion of May 16.

If there is a song on the setlist but not listed above that you feel would be a good candidate for having altered lyrics written, please feel free to share that in your comment along with a quick explanation of the lyrical topic you are thinking of. We cannot guarantee approval, but are open to considering these suggestions.

We're always looking for new ideas and new voices so even if you haven't done this in the past, and/or are not performing with the band, please feel free to step forward!

Keep in mind that the Tessiturians committee reserves the right to edit your lyrics as necessary and that there’s no guarantee we will be playing all of these songs - we may have to cut or change one or two depending how many people actually sign up for the band this year. We also reserve the right to go with original lyrics if we feel that’s a better fit for the set.

Recap: Tessiturians Band Inaugural Virtual Gathering

Thank you to everyone who attended our inaugural Tessiturians Community meeting yesterday. I hope y'all had fun and learned a bit about the Tessiturians and our planning process.

Some take-aways:

We've decided to hold these meetings quarterly moving forward so our next meeting will likely be in February, exact date TBD. When we get closer to TLCC we'll be having additional meetings for TLCC planning purposes and those will be open to the full community as well.
In the meantime we'll continue working on the 2024 set list. Thank you for your input on song selection via the ranking exercises we did – that information will help inform some of our decisions during the process. Expect more of those exercises in the future.
We heard you on the topic of communication and the issues using Confluence and we'll be brainstorming ways we can communicate better as we get closer to TLCC.
We're still looking for volunteers who like to edit video and would be interested in getting some of our 2023 videos ready for our @tessiturians YouTube channel – please respond here or directly to any of us if you're interested.
We're open to hearing about other ways you might be interested in being involved with the band, for example maybe those of you with visual art and design interests would be into creating a logo for us?

Please let us know if you liked the meeting format and content, and/or if you have suggestions for what you would like to see at future meetings.

TLCC2024 Guiding Principles

Hello Tessiturians, thank you all for your input via our post TLCC survey. Based on your responses and our planning committee review of TLCC2023 over the past few weeks, we have created a list of guiding principles to help inform our efforts as we plan for TLCC2024. Please feel free to comment on this discussion if you feel anything is missing or needs adjusting.

Based on the current interest in band participation, the set length, stage size, and rehearsals were “right-sized” and successful.
Plan for encores in the future; it allows the audience to participate and know that the show is over.
Strive for a diverse set list in terms of genre, tempo, and overall feel with the goal of increasing diversity in band participation.
Develop and maintain a culture of respect and fun where participants are well-supported.
- While we understand this is not a professional gig, our goal is to entertain with a quality performance for friends and colleagues, in addition to having fun and networking.
Continued improvement of pre-conference planning efforts for success.
- Finalize the setlist and assignments as early as possible to enable everyone to have more time to learn their parts.
- Provide more guidance for individual song check-in meetings. These could be used to coordinate vocal parts or planning how to end a song that fades out in advance to aid with learning and rehearsal.
- Rethink schedule of pre-conference meetings
More communication between our band planning committee and the conference planning team throughout the year to ensure a smooth on-site experience related to AV/stage setup and the run of show for closing party activities.
Continue to prioritize the health, safety, and welfare of participants.
Build Community and Engagement with the band throughout the year.
- Become recognized and function as a Community Group
- Strive for accessibility in communicating what the band is and how it works, demystifying the process so that more people are interested in participating.
- Engage in activities at other TLCC events where feasible.

Call for Video Editors – TLCC Orlando 2023

Thank you to everyone who has already sent us photos and videos of the performance this year in Orlando. We nearly have the full set accounted for, so if you or someone you know has footage they’d still like to share, you can share it here through Box.

We would like to upload as much of the set as possible to our YouTube page, so we’re looking for a few volunteer video editors – we are not expecting any one person to take on the whole project. We have an audio recording of the concert from the main soundboard and some additional videos attendees took closer to the stage. These do not have to be fancy; we’re just looking for synchronized video and audio, plus adding in subtitles. But, if you would like to flex some creative muscles, we’d love to see it!

Please respond here on this post if you’re interested and Dale will reach out with details. We would like to have these all completed by end of October. Thanks for your consideration!

HELP WANTED! Supertitles + Video recording

Howdy, Tessiturians and friends!

This message goes out to all of the Tessiturians participating in the band this year, as well as everyone here who's not performing this year but is attending this year's conference in-person and would like the satisfaction of knowing you helped us out (and/or knows someone else who might want that satisfaction).

We are looking for folks to help us in the following ways:

1) Create and/or run the supertitles for each song — This mostly entails creating a Powerpoint deck with all of the lyrics (which should end up looking similar to karaoke or a lyric video for each song) and running it along with each song as they're performed, so the audience can read along and/or sing along. In the past the creation and running of the slides have been done by the same person, but it could be different people if necessary. If multiple people are interested we can split up the tasks/songs. It would be helpful if this volunteer(s) could attend the Tuesday night rehearsal to do a test run.

2) Record video of the performance — No specialty equipment required – simply recording a song from start to finish on your phone would still be better than what we had in the earliest years of the band. If you've ever looked through the Tessiturians Band YouTube page, you can get a sense of how we have recorded these shows over the years; of course we plan to add this year's videos to the YouTube page (a.k.a. the only public historical record of the Tessiturians!). You can commit to recording 1 song, 2 songs, or the whole set if you like, but in the interest of ensuring full coverage, we do want to coordinate who's doing which song(s) ahead of time.
