Importing MSA data

Has anyone successfully imported MSA data? We'd like to use this data in segmentation in order to pull prospect lists based on an MSA region.

We were told we could import the data into the Geographic Areas (TR_GEO_AREA) table, and that there's a process that runs on the backend to tie the constituent's address to the MSA region.

What we've found it that the process has each key programmed line by line to update each address based on the zip code. So it appears to us we would have to update the table, then rewrite the whole process. Has anyone already done this and would be willing to walk us through how you did it? Or if you've found a more efficient way to write the process instead of programming line by line?

Is the process of encrypting / decrypting a sessionkey documented?

Hi Folks,

Thanks to input here, I'm stuck in to shared sessions. I've found it easy to request a shared session, and to get the contents of that shared session via the API.

My stumbling block is decryption of the encrypted session key - I'm having to use the tool in the Tessitura Admin to decrypt so that I can test.

I know there is a full code sample, but it's not in languages we are currently running on the server I am working on. Is there documentation somewhere of the steps required to encrypt and decrypt (decrypt is key really - I don't need to be able to encrypt I don't think)? I can get a bit of an idea in the PHP code, but my PHP isn't that good - my efforts today have been miss rather than hit and miss!

I'd welcome any input!

Call an external HTML page from Constituent record

Does anyone have any experience calling an external html page from with a constituent record that can be auto-populated with several constituent fields / IDs?

The Idea is to have an integration where a constituent record can have attributes passed to a third party application from within Tessitura upon an initiated event without having to manually enter values into another screen.

Is there an easy way to pull the subheader (.tn-utility-nav) bar into a clients none Tessi site?

It's been refreshingly easy to match up the look and feel of TNEW to our clients existing website.

Once we transition to Tessi, this website will be remaining as the brochure website. It will hand visitors over to TNEW for login, ticket purchasing, donations etc.

To take the consistency between the two sites one step further, is there an easy way to pull in the session specific HTML code for that block?

This way, if a visitor is logged in on TNEW and clicks back to the brochure site, they will still see that they are logged in, if they have something in their cart, it will show etc.

Prospective Donor Research Software? Is iWave the way to go?

We're running a capital campaign that has stalled out over the last year or so. We want to jumpstart using a prospective donor research tool. In the past (pre 2019) we've looked into iWave because it interacts with Tessitura, but wanted to see opinions - is this still an effective tool? Would you say iWave is the right product to use? Which do you use and what do you like/dislike about them?

Payment date in HTML

Is anyone out there using an order confirmation template which includes payment dates? Most of our orders contain multiple payments before being paid off entirely, whether it's a partial deposit on a program or a monthly payment plan.

^ I'm looking for exactly what we see here, but just with the payment date included somewhere along with the last 4 digits and amount. I haven't had luck figuring this out myself, if someone has a code they could easily copy and paste?

Formatting of datetime custom keyword fields

Hello,

I'm experiencing an issue with the formatting of Datetime fields in custom attribute values stored in TX_CUST_KEYWORD and defined in T_KEYWORD.

We have a Local Procedure (LP) that writes a date into a TX_CUST_KEYWORD row, together with the customer_no and keyword_no.

When the Local Procedure runs it takes an XML payload containing a datetime like "2023-05-02 14:00:00" and inserts a new row into TX_CUST_KEYWORD. The LP then executes a SELECT statement which queries TX_CUST_KEYWORD to get the values that have just been written. The output of this query is a string such as "May 2 2023 2:00PM", which is the same date/time as was send to the LP. The LP date variable is configured as an SQL "datetime", although I'm not certain how the T_KEYWORD has been set up.

However when viewing the data from within Tessitura, we see the default date of "01/01/1990".

Could this be a configuration issue for the T_KEYWORD field, or perhaps a presentation issue where we need to configure some formatting for the visual output in Tessitura?

Any advice gratefully received.

Can the version 16 C# library be used on an ASP.Net 4.8 website?

Looks like the new Tessitura.Service.Client.dll needs a .NET runtime of 6.0. Most of my projects are fine except for a registration website using .NET Framework 4.8.

Will I be able to use the library - or rewrite the site as a .NET Core website?

Cancellation via API - Can it be done?

Hi all,

Only working with Tessitura from the outside (as a distributor for Tessitura powered Venues) we're having a hard time getting insight in how to cancel orders that have been placed.
We've received quite some contradicting information and can't seem to find an answer in the documentation either.

We're working with multiple Tessitura powered venues but so far we haven't been able to get the answer we need via them either.

I refuse to believe it's not possible to cancel a purchase and void the received tickets so I'm trying my luck here.

I'd be super happy with a link to clear documentation or even better: An example request/response.

Ways to Expand Limits of Custom Fields?

Our client's custom field needs have expanded to the point where every one of the 10 slots for Orders and Contributions have been filled. To satisfy new data requirements, we've had to start double-purposing fields and embedding JSON inside the field value. Has anyone had success expanding custom fields in other ways? The only other idea I have so far is to alter the custom field columns in the database table to allow more than 255 characters, so that JSON data size won't need to be restricted as much. However, this may have unintended side effects elsewhere in the system and may not survive a major upgrade.

Ideally custom fields would be stored in a separate table called T_CUSTOM_FIELD that would relate to Orders, Contributions or any other type of object via a generic "entity_no" column. There would also be a "keyword_no" column to associate it with the keyword definition of the field and the "value" column would be a TEXT type to allow for very long values if needed. For backwards-compatibility, you could still assign up to 10 fields that would be stored in both the new table and in the current format with the custom_[x] columns, so the legacy columns would always be a mirror of the data in the new table.

Does anyone know if a better custom field system like this is on the Tessitura roadmap?

I am adding a custom report to v16 and when I add a new criteria i get the following error message:

Please get the latest version of the resource, merge your changes and try again." I am the only one working in the resource and have not changed anything. Have relogged in to Tessitura. Tried adding a different criteria - nothing seems to work. When i save with just the original criteria it saves. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Adding contribution via "Web/Cart/{sessionKey}/Contributions", requires a Fund Id but get error "No fund/campaign found for fund id" for all funds I tried.

I'm trying to pull in Stripe transactions into Tessitura via my own integration and can't seem to figure out what entity/resource to work with. I've tried "Contributions" as the only one that actually allows me to "Post" to, (which shows it only applies to some "interceptor" plugin only), and do not know how to get a sample payment to show up for a constituent... Any help would be great! Thanks in advance!

Faster Credentials Email

We're looking to offer a passwordless website login via an emailed token. The REST API has a SendCredentials method for generating a credentials email, but the recommendation from Tessitura has been to set email frequency to every 5 minutes. From a UX perspective, a 5 minute wait time (or even the minimum 1 minute) is too long for a purchase path login.

One option to speed this up would be to have the website use its own SMTP server to send a token email instead of TPS. We are able to use CRM/WebLogins/{loginId}/LoginCredentials to retrieve a generated token. However, we found that it stays null until calling SendCredentials, which attempts to send its own email. So we have two questions:

Is there a way to have Tessitura send credentials emails immediately, rather than waiting for the recommended 5 minutes (or 1 minute minimum)
If not, is there a good way to generate the token without Tessitura also sending an email?

Changing the TNew Template from one .html file to a .php file with query parameters, where do I set the template?

I need to update my TNew template from the existing HTML file to a new .PHP file that has two different headers/footers and the chosen option will be determined by the query parameters. I have the PHP file set up and running, I simply don't know where to assign it so that it will start being used.

Report Requests not Running - Stalled on QueueStatus "s"

We've been working on integrating with the Reporting features on the Tessitura API for one of our clients lately, and we've recently ran into some issues. When I first started working on this (around 5/12/21), we were able to generate Report Schedules and direct Report Request calls that would successfully execute on the Test server (it never worked on the Prod server). Around 5/28/21, the reports requests stopped executing on the Test server as well, and are now stalled in queue with a QueueStatus of "s". We've been trying to debug this without much success, so we have a few questions to try and debug it.

What User, User Group, Resource, and Security permissions are required to generate a functioning Report Schedule as well as do direct Report Requests calls? We want to ensure that our users are configured correctly. Currently, we're attempting to generate them using both an Admin and Non-Admin account.

Mobile ticket QR code on dark mode

We are working on moving over to mobile tickets and using the html ticket templates, but we found if a user has their cell phone on dark mode, the QR barcode won't display properly. We can't seem to figure out how to get around this (none of us are great with the html templates yet...) Has anyone else found a solution? If it is viewed in a browser it works fine, just not in the visitor's email.
