Removing Change Log Comments from Impresario SQL Objects

Tessitura will be discontinuing the maintenance of change log comments in SQL objects, and existing change log comments will be removed incrementally over the next year or so. Please note, that Description, Parameter, and Example comments will still be created and updated, and we do not intend to remove comments from custom/local objects.

This change aims to prevent inaccuracies and inconsistencies. The majority of SQL changes do not include change log comments and existing comments are often incomplete, incorrect or outdated, leading to confusion.

Local Stored Procedure for Custom Form Data

Is anyone writing custom form data to Attributes? If so, would you be willing to share your sproc? I'd also love to take a look at any other sprocs that people are using to work with form data. I'm just diving into this to see what solutions we have vs getting that large block of text stored to a CSI. Thanks!

Custom HTML template- add Sales Order Notes

Does anyone have code on how to add the sales order note in an order confirmation html template? This would be the same idea as displaying it on the physical ticket designs. Our group sales mgr would like to personalize the e-confirmation by having the order notes line display. I didn't see this particular element in the html template recipe book but figured someone may have done this already. Thanks in advance!

V3 TNEW Customizations

We are getting our Test database ready to go for our V16 upgrade. Part of that process means converting all our LWP_VALIDATE_CART validation logic over into their own stored procedures. I've got all the stored procedures built and setup for TNEW to access them but when I try to test it out, the customizations are not activating the pre-cart messaging.

I found the applicable @sessionkey for the order and ran that parameter through my procedure directly in the database. And the HTML meant to be returned for that order is displaying in the results for the procedure. But its not sending me to that message when attempting to trigger that message on our test TNEW site.

Has anyone else successfully converted over to stored procedure customizations and might have an idea of what I'm missing? The documentation stated that the procedures will need a null able @siteroot parameter, so that was there. I commented it out and tried it again but it still did not work. I've setup the rows in TR_LOCAL_PROCEDURE, LTR_TNEW_VALIDATE_CART and enabled the procedures in the TNEW Site admin page. I enabled execute permissions to all ImpUsers. V3 customizations are turned on for our Test site. The item type I am currently testing is for Single Ticket added.

iWave API Subscription

We have the standard integration Custom Page right now but there are additional data points within Screenings we are starting to really use more frequently. Would love to hear more about how folks have been using this.

v16 in the Ticketing World, what changes?

So we are hosted and are in the process of setting up a v16 kickoff (oh joy).

Everyone on our Ongoing Services team keeps saying "Oh ticketing won't change that much." But from the couple of things already mentioned on the Idea board and other places in the forums, it looks like it's changing a lot, and not for the better!

I've looked into the documentation for the new release as far as bug fixes and what not (which doesn't tell me a whole lot). Is there anything out there that will give me a step-by-step of exactly what is changing in the Ticket Orders area from v15 to v16, just so I know what to prepare my staff for. Basically what I'm looking for is a side-by-side of everything available to us currently in v15 vs how that will look in v16.

I wanted to share all the opportunities for developers at TLCC Orlando that we’ve created based on community feedback. After discussions with many of you, the team has worked to put together a meaningful experience.

We have a mix of sessions from the community and Tessitura staff. You’ll see that we have focused on several aspects of custom development with Tessitura, from working with the API, to custom SSRS reports and HTML templates. These sessions are great if you are new to custom development with Tessitura, such as building a custom website or integration, web-based custom screens, SSRS custom reports, or other bespoke web-based customizations.

Developer content ranges from intro level to more advanced. There will be opportunities to explore new functionality in v16.

We are bringing back the developer lounge as a central place for all of you to connect. You’ll be able to plug in to a projector and explore code together. In addition, we will have dedicated developer office hours where Tessitura staff will be on hand to answer your questions.

Bring your code and your projects. And if you haven’t signed up for TLCC yet, the regular registration rate is available through the end of day July 11. You can register here. If you are registered, the conference app will open the week of July 24. I am looking at tools like Plaid, Google, Smatify, or something of that nature.

Integrated / shared cart tools

There is interest at our museum to have an integrated / shared cart for online visitors, that allows them to shop at the online retail store (Shopify), add parking (another system) & tickets / membership / contributions (TNEW) but have a single cart & transaction rather than multiple transactions for each type of purchase.

Has anyone done something like this? Got part way? If so what tools did you use to do this? Are you happy with how it works?

Delivery Point Identifier Barcodes (DPI) / Address Validation

Has anyone had experience with any integration between DPI's and Tessitura?

In our department do 2 large (2000 and 6000 mailers) mailouts per year but send roughly 10 DL letters per week. In Australia, the price of shipping our mail is halved if we use a DPI barcode on our envelopes. While using a mail house will provide the DPI barcode for us, using a mail house is only suitable for large mailouts and not our everyday letters.

My thought process is - If each delivery point is allocated a DPI and they can be reused (based on my understanding that DPI's relate to a fixed delivery point as opposed to new, validated data, it seems more cost effective to upload each barcode to a constituency (that is linked to their address/in the address section so when their address is changed the DPI will be invalidated) that will then allow us to export these as an output setting within list manager for everyday use. Knowing that image uploads are coming with v16 and that other arts orgs in Australia would benefit from this, does this sound like worthwhile ask to include in future versions of Tessitura?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Low-Code/No-Code platforms with Tessitura

We've got a lot of needs for relatively straightforward integrations with Tessitura and other tools we use, and comparatively less time/resources spend on traditional software development. I've recently been eyeing a few low-code platforms (Mendix, Pega, Retool, PowerApps, etc.) and am curious if anyone has used this sort of thing with Tessitura.

I haven't gotten very far into this, but a lot of the quick demos I've watched start out with by either storing data within the platform itself or via a SQL connnection - I'm less sure how well something like this works if we're trying to keep all of the interactions via REST APIs. Many also advertise pre-built integrations with systems like Salesforce, but I don't think Tessitura is usually on their radar.

Would love to hear either general opinions about platforms or more specific stories about how this sort of thing has been used with Tessitura and/or to tie Tess to other systems.

Tessitura integration with Property Management systems?

We are new Tessitura Network members here at Colonial Williamsburg and wanted to ask other members if anyone currently has or is interested in an integration from Tessitura to a property management system for charging tessitura tickets/products to a guest's room. We use Oracle's Opera product for our Property Management and there is no current integration with Tessitura.

Control groups and the API

Hi all - sorry to bother you with what's hopefully a very quick question.

We've just added our first control groups to our configuration, due to the Development department joining Tessitura. However, our web developer is struggling to be able to access these control-grouped items (specifically contact permissions) via the API.

I added the control group to the our REST API user group, with edit rights, and assumed that this would give the user group visibility of those control-grouped items. But this hasn't worked.

What else do I need to do?

Any help really appreciated. I can't find much help in the documentation beyond the step I've completed.

Running Tessitura REST API with a python exe

This isn't necessarily a Tessitura issue, but the issue is popping up whenever I try to use the Tessitura API. I've been using Python to access the REST API and it seems to be working great. Anytime I run a POST or GET request from the PyCharm IDE everything works fine.

Now I am trying to compile my script into an executable file using pyinstaller. I ran into some issues with it missing the modules but now I've gotten so far as it to run the script, but once it hits the Tessitura module and tries to run the _init_.py file it says its missing the pkg_resources module. I looked through the Tessitura _init_.py file and the first thing it tries to do is import the pkg_resources module. The pkg_resources module is found in the site-packages folder in the venv directory right along side the Tessitura module. So I don't know why when I run the script through PyCharm it knows where to find the module but when it runs as an exe it can't find it. Do I need to make a copy of the pkg_resources folder and move it into the Tessitura folder?

FB Verifying Domain

Facebook is needing to verify our my.austinsymphony.org domain. It's asking us to, "Paste the meta-tag into the <head> ... <head> section of the website’s home page HTML source, and publish the page."

Do we have access to that? If so, where can I place it?

SOAP order confirmation template

We are moving to TNEW next week. TNEW until v16 will still use a SOAP template for order confirmation. We do anticipate moving to v16 for at least 6 months after it is released. We used Order Email Sample1_html.aspx with Order Email Sample1_html.xsl to create an HTML style order confirmation. The NT has various needs for their order confirmation - for example reminding customers that purchased tickets a NT production located in the West End that the production is not the NT. In testing this order confirmation with TNEW, we noticed it was not bringing across the contribution made with theorder. We reckon this has never worked. We did some further testing and found it doesn't work in the non altered of Order Email Sample1_html.xsl So we went looking for an order confirmation template we could alter to meet our needs. TNEXPRESS_OrderEmail_html.aspx with a few alterations worked well but the corresponding CartHTML.xslt appears to deliver the single ticket information from a template: <xsl:call-template name="PerformanceLineItem"> We need to be able to move the data around - the format in CartHTML doesn't suit what we need. And we need to be able to deliver specific messaging for certain locations as well as price type for restaurants and tours but not for any other performances.

UK_CartHTML.xslt is more suitable for what we need. However, the column Total for single tickers is zero and the corresponding total single tickets costs is zero. It is this section:

External access to the API Help documents and the Rest Client in the new Cloud Hosting Environment

We wanted to share a change in how the REST API can be accessed for our members in RAMP as they are migrated to our Cloud Hosting environment:

In the new Cloud Hosting Environment the Tessitura Service (REST API) is configured so that authenticated API calls can be made from any location without the source IP Address being cleared on the Allow List. This provides a benefit in reducing friction for API development, however in order to protect our Intellectual Property the Tessitura Service Help Pages and Rest Client are not accessible externally for any member hosted in the new environment. No IP Allow List additions will change this access.

Members and 3rd party developers with signed NDAs can access the published REST API Help Pages on tessituranetwork.com. We recommend using the free, widely used, Postman Client to make authenticated calls against the API. Information on downloading and working with Postman can be found within the REST API Help Pages in the Libraries section.

Access in the Legacy RAMP environment will stay the same, this only changes once an organization is fully migrated to our Cloud Hosting environment.

Is anyone using the HubSpot API?

I am not a Developer, but I think I will need developer skills to make this work. Any help I can get would be welcome.

Calling for MS Access help!

My predecessor created a front of house report that works by way of the front of house staff entering night of show observations into a MS Access form. That data gets saved in local tables in the impresario database, then they run an SSRS report that distributed the data from those tables (in a nice neat format) to internal stakeholders.

Our current Front of House Manager has asked me to add bunches of fields to this report, which first requires me to add them to the MS Access form. I am hitting speed bump after speed bump with this form. If anyone has Access form skills will you please reach out to me.

HTML Templates and time vs. zone

Hello,

While we won't start using the HTML order confirmations until we upgrade to v16, I'm working on setting them up now so I have one less thing to do later on. I'm using a copy of the sample email order confirmation for an admission based organization. I'm excited to see that it will pull in the time from zones -- which is fantastic since we're using timed admissions now -- but zone description is not useful for virtual programs (or someday when we have in-person programs again) -- it is showing "GA" in the "Time" column. I'm thinking that the easiest way to do this would be with an if/then clause that says that anything from production that holds timed admissions would use the zone description and all else would use the actual event time. Has anyone set something like this up? I'm brand new to RAZOR but know a little SQL so I understand the concepts behind these templates, but not how to execute them.

HTML Template Recipe Book

We are happy to announce that the HTML Template Recipe Book has been published.

Tessitura uses highly flexible, configurable HTML Templates to send transactional emails to customers, including ticket order confirmations, booking confirmations, forgot password emails, event cancellation receipts, and cumulative giving summary receipts.

To help inspire you as you customize these templates for your organization, we have created example "recipes" of additions and modifications you can make to HTML templates in your system. We’ll be adding to the recipe book over time. Many of the ideas for these recipes came from challenges posed by community members like yourselves, so I'd like to extend a special thank you to everyone who asks questions and swaps ideas in these forums and on the developer Slack workspace.

HTML Templates replace the older ASPX emails generated by the SOAP API. Starting in version 16 of Tessitura, ASPX emails will not be supported. We will provide separate communication and documentation about TNEW's transition to HTML templates at a later date.
