As I mentioned at our last meeting, this will be my last season at SCT, as I plan to make a career change next summer. I put out a call for new leaders, and I am happy to report that Isabel Thomas has volunteered to join the leadership team for the PNW Tessitura Community. Please give a warm welcome to Isabel!

Isabel Thomas has been a Tessitura user since 2008. She is currently the Development Database & Campaign Manager for Seattle Opera. Prior to that, she was the Ticketing Manager of the 5th Avenue Theatre. Outside of Tessitura, her interests are sewing, knitting, and being a mom to a toddler.

Evan Cartwright will continue in his role on the leadership team, and I will continue to be a part of the team for the earlier half of the year.

During this moderated session, Melissa would like to speak about LGBTQIA+ focused legislation, including the Respect for Marriage Act and Equality Act, as well as update us on her discussions with Senator Chuck Schumer on the future of LGBTQIA+ legislation. She will also speak about next steps on the national scene to cultivate belonging and inclusion in the workplace. Lastly, she has agreed to a Q&A at the end of the session, should we have time.

We will be working with Tessitura's DEAI committee to put together some questions for her, but we would also love to hear what kind of questions you might have. Please add yours to the discussion for this event below, and invite your friends and colleagues to join us. We want to make this event a success, and have a good turnout so that we can hope to have additional guests like Melissa in the future.

If you don't know me, I'm Kanani Reichlin (she/her), I'm the Data Operations Manager at Seattle Children's Theatre. I have joined Evan Cartwright of Seattle Rep and Betsy Groat of Seattle Symphony, as a leader of our Seattle Tessitura Community.

I wanted to give you all a few updates.

If you haven't already heard, the Tessitura community-at-large has decided to no longer use the term "user groups" or "TUG" and has transitioned to "Tessitura Communities" or "TC".

As a result of this transition, we did some re-thinking our our own name, and decided to re-name and expand our region from Seattle Tessitura Community to Pacific Northwest Tessitura Community. This makes us more inclusive of our friends at Spokane Symphony, who have joined us in the past, and allows us to invite Portland users to join our community.

We are making plans to revive this group and have some meetings in the coming months (starting in February). Please encourage your staff to subscribe to this group to get all the updates on when those will take place. Also, if you know of any dates that we should avoid when planning please email them to me at kananir@sct.org.

Thank you!

We survived another winter! There are plenty of updates for spring and SeaTUG we’re excited to share:

June Event – Happy hour at Citizen (706 Taylor Ave N)

Monday, June 3 – 5pm until whenever!

Come join us to visit with old friends and make new ones! Citizen has a great outdoor patio space so we’re hoping the weather will be cooperative. We hope that by gathering on a Monday, when many of our orgs are typically dark, that more colleagues from ticket offices and FOH teams will be able to join. See you there!

July Event – Pre-TLCC gathering!

Date and venue TBD, somewhere between July 8 – 19

An educational gathering in advance of this year’s Tessitura Learning & Community Conference. Are you presenting at the conference this year? Here’s an opportunity to practice your presentation for a great audience of your peers! Have a cool Analytics dashboard you want to share? Now’s your chance! Please contact Evan, Kristin, and Betsy if you’d like to help with putting our agenda together!

Want to help plan SeaTUG events?

We’d love to expand our planning group to encompass more voices (and as an extra perk, our planning happy hours are super fun). Let us know if you’d like to join our SeaTUG steering group!

Want to see a show this spring?

Seattle Opera’s Carmen has four more performances on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. $25 industry rush tickets are available, see here for more information: https://www.seattleopera.org/tickets/ways-to-save/

Seattle Rep would love to welcome SeaTUG members to a performance of Nina Simone: Four Women on Tuesday, May 28 at 7:30pm. $15 industry rush tickets are available starting at noon day-of-show, or you can also purchase your seats ahead of time for 50% off with this promo: https://www.seattlerep.org/promo/seatug

We'd love to see more SeaTUG industry nights happening around town - use this online forum to spread the word if you'd like to organize one!
