Pacific Northwest Tessitura Community--Formerly Seattle Tessitura Community

Hi All,

If you don't know me, I'm Kanani Reichlin (she/her), I'm the Data Operations Manager at Seattle Children's Theatre. I have joined Evan Cartwright of Seattle Rep and Betsy Groat of Seattle Symphony, as a leader of the Seattle Tessitura Community.

I wanted to give you all a few updates.

If you haven't already heard, the Tessitura community-at-large has decided to no longer use the term "user groups" or "TUG" and has transitioned to "Tessitura Communities" or "TC".
As a result of this transition, we did some re-thinking of our our own name, and decided to re-name and expand our region from Seattle Tessitura Community to Pacific Northwest Tessitura Community. This makes us more inclusive of our friends at Spokane Symphony, who have joined us in the past, and allows us to invite you, Portland users, to join our community. We hope you will join us!
Our group has been dormant for the last year+ and we are making plans to revive this group and have some meetings in the coming months (starting in February). If you are interested in joining this larger Tessitura Community please go here and click the join button. Also, please share with your staff to do the same. If you know of any dates that we should avoid when planning our meetings please email them to me at kananir@sct.org. Updates on when the meetings take place will go out through the group linked above, so be sure you're subscribed to receive email updates.

Continuing our Virtual Open Space Discussions on Anti-Racism and the Arts & Cultural Sector

The world is listening and responding to social injustice across America and the Black Lives Matter movement. Last month we gathered via Virtual Open Space Discussions to discuss how we, as arts and culture professionals, can support the change that needs to happen in our organizations and in the field.

Please join us as we continue these conversations in another round of Virtual Open Space Discussions. Bring your questions and engage in meaningful discussions with your peers around our theme “Anti-Racism and the Arts and Cultural Sector: A Moment for Response and Ideas, Continued.” This event is open to anyone in the community. Feel free to spread the word and invite your colleagues to join us.

This event takes place on Monday, July 20 at 3-5:30pm EDT. Please register in advance.

The Tessitura Community has embraced the Open Space Discussions format at our global and regional conferences (TLCC, TEC and ANZTRUC), at Regional Tessitura User Group Meetings and, most recently, via virtual sessions. These events have presented wonderful opportunities for people to engage in discussions about topics that are important to them - to find others with the same concerns and share solutions.

The Tessitura Network is hosting two Virtual Open Space Discussion events on July 16th (July 17th AEST). You are welcome to participate in either (or both!).

The first event is timed to invite participation from Europe and the Eastern part of North America.

Hello, PDXTUG!

TLCC is fast approaching and we’re looking forward to seeing those of you attending TLCC2018 in a few weeks! There's so much to do at the Conference so as you plan your conference experience, we want to take this opportunity to invite you be a part of Open Space Discussions.

Open Space is a wonderful opportunity for us to bring questions forward and dig deep into discovery with the community. This is our chance to explore those topics that are most-relevant and important to us. What’s that one topic that you’re most interested in diving into with colleagues from around the Network? Write that down and bring it with you to Open Space. Don’t have a topic in mind? Just bring your experience as an arts & cultural professional – your colleagues will have plenty of conversation starters you can join in on.

Hey All in The City of Roses.

I just wanted to reach out to share a great feature of TLCC we are working on called Open Space Discussions.

Open Space Discussions are a way for each of us to bring questions to the conference that are not currently on the agenda. A chance to explore those important topics, to build community, and create a proceeding of hundreds of great conversations between arts and cultural professionals from around the world.

As you are thinking about TLCC 2017 What’s the one topic that you’re most interested in diving into with colleagues? Please bring it with you to the Opening Circle for Open Space Discussions. You don't have to be an expert on the topic, just be willing to share your question with others. If you don’t have a topic in mind? Don't worry about it just bring your experience, and curiosity as an arts & cultural professional – your colleagues will have plenty of conversation starters you can join in on.

Great article in American Theatre magazine featuring 20 institutions that produce theatre for the kiddos.

"As TYA audiences have diversified, theatres are making an effort to produce work inclusive of all children. The repertoire has expanded beyond fairy tales and book adaptations, and TYA works are now grappling with subjects from segregation to living with autism. With arts education being cut from school programs, TYA theatres and theatres that program TYA works have taken it upon themselves to fill this void."
