TLCC Gatesead: Regional Group meetup discussion topics

Hi folks,

If you haven't seen already, the draft schedule for TLCC Gateshead has been posted here.

The regional groups will be meeting on the Wednesday between 11:30am–12:15pm so we're looking forward to seeing those of you who can make it there!

If anyone has any topics they would be particularly interested in discussing during this session, please let us know in the comments and we'll add one or two to the agenda.

NMS will have hopefully just gone live with v16 the week before so I know what will be most present in my mind... but any topic welcome, of course! 🙂

Hello all! Our scholarship application period for TLCC Gateshead (5-6 March 2024) closes this Thursday 16th. Please help us spread word and pass this on to any members of your team who may be interested.

We have five scholarships available:

Scholarships will cover the full conference registration fee, but awardees will be responsible for their own travel expenses and lodging.

Applications coupled with letters of recommendation are due by COB Thursday 16th November - more details regarding eligibility and online application links can be found on our website here.

Introduction to your Community Chairs.

Hey,

I am Emma, and I think this is my first time posting in this group on the Tessitura Network so nice to meet everyone.

I just want to briefly introduce myself and Tom Clarke who have recently joined Alex Grieves as co-chairs of this group.

Bit more about me; I am marketing manager at The Glasshouse (formally known as Sage Gateshead). I have worked there in various roles for 13 years, but joined the marketing team in 2016 as an apprentice and have been using Tessitura ever since. The hive mind and community behind Tessitura has really helped me excel in my role, so it is great to have the opportunity to hopefully help this group grow.

Tom started as the CRM Ticketing and Data Officer at National Museums Scotland in January and before that was working at The Old Vic theatre in London, so has been around Tessitura for a few years now. Tom has really valued the community aspect of Tessitura so is excited to be a co-chair of this group.

We both can't wait to meet you!

And for those of you who haven’t met Alex yet, he is Head of Business Support at the Theatre Royal Newcastle. Having previously worked at the Glasshouse, he has worked with tessitura for over 5 Years.

Are you looking to develop professionally and personally, and deepen your connection with Tessitura – the technology, the members, and the wider arts and culture industry?

We're currently seeking 1-2 members to volunteer as Community Chairs for the North of England & Scotland Community Group and invite you to join us as a community leader. You’ll be surprised by the impact you can have on people’s lives, careers, and institutions!

The Role

Tessitura members come to Community Groups to expand their networks, share their expertise, and connect with like-minded others around common interests. Community Chairs volunteer their time to build and lead these groups, and host meetups that bring members together to share best practices and build relationships. You'll:

- develop and refine critical leadership skills
- build valuable new networks
- take back tangible ideas and learnings to your work
- access training and professional development opportunities
- be recognised for your contribution internally at Tessitura and in the wider community

… and more!

Each Community Group is led by 2-3 co-chairs - you'll join existing Community Chair Alexander Grieves. Community Groups are expected to meet virtually or in-person at least once per year.

Previous experience in group management or facilitation is not required. Tessitura provides initial onboarding, followed by on-going support and various resources. These include a dedicated Community Manager and invitations to events led by the community team, enabling you to connect with our other 100+ Community Chairs globally.

Leeds Meetup Last Week - Follow-Up Resources

Many thanks to all who attended our Leeds meetup last week, and Alexander Grieves for leading the discussion and Shona Galletly and the Leeds City Council team for kindly hosting us at Carriageworks Theatre!

2pm Welcome and intros. Please come prepared to share 2 or 3 things your team are working on at the moment and show off any cool wins you’ve made with Tess! Gill will also present some key developments with Tessitura.

2.45pm Automations and efficiencies within Tess. Hear from Scottish Ballet about custom and out-of-the-box work solutions using CSIs to save admin time across ticketing, education and fundraising departments. Followed by a Q&A. Have you been working on anything with CSIs let us know below as it would be wonderful to have a further presentation or two!

3.30pm Audience initiatives. With cuts to funding and a cost of living crisis what can we be doing more of to support and cultivate stronger relationships within our community? Hear from Sage Gateshead about initiatives they’ve undertaken to deepen engagement at a grassroots level.

4.15pm Tea and chat. An open discussion of any further impromptu topics and what you’d like to see more of at our regional meet-ups online and in-person going forward. We’d love to hear about these in advance by commenting below!

Feedback Opportunity via ACE and Partners - Arts and Cultural Access Scheme

Hello everyone! I wanted to share this current opportunity from Arts Council England and partners including Creative Scotland, who are looking for feedback if you represent a creative or cultural organisation in the UK, with regular interaction with audiences.

There's a survey available currently, and responses will help shape the future direction of the Arts and Cultural Access Scheme.

The Scheme 'intends to support and complement the work already carried out by existing support organisations, ticketing providers and creative and cultural organisations, while additionally seeking to address an often inconsistent and fragmented approach to access.'

The Role

Hello! I'm pleased to share our open call for presenters at TLCC London (11-12 October), to share practical knowledge and revolutionise the business of arts and culture. Whether you’re new to Tessitura or a seasoned expert, a first-time presenter or an experienced speaker, we invite you to submit a proposal for a presentation.

Your voice matters! Share your ideas and experiences, and spark conversations with your peers. We’re actively seeking speakers who identify as being from an ethnic minority; gender-nonconforming; having a disability; neurodivergent; LGBTQIA+; and other historically excluded identities.

Hello to our North of England & Scotland Community Members!

We’re getting in touch to introduce ourselves as your new Community Co-chairs for Scotland and the North of England. With very different experiences of Tess and the arts industry we hope we can bring a lot to these discussions to revive the community, open new conversations to share learnings, challenges, and generate new ideas.

Here’s a little bit about each of us:

Shiona Walker – Senior Membership & CRM Manager, Scottish Ballet

I joined Scottish Ballet in March 2020, so as you can imagine it’s been quite an experience! SB is the first place I have worked with Tessitura having been in a digital/marketing capacity in other arts orgs in Glasgow and London over the past 8 years.

My current role at SB involves overseeing the growth strategy of our international free membership programme to foster a sense of community within our audience of production and event attendees, class participants and email subscribers. I also work across the other admin departments to support all their Tessitura needs, whether that’s a new package of classes, ticketing for a Patron event, utilising One Page Giving for a fundraising campaign or acquiring a particularly complex report for a member of our Executive team. Currently, I’m also leading an ambitious website redevelopment project to put our Members at the heart of the experience.

Outside of work I enjoy chasing the northern lights around Scandinavia, jaunts to London to see too many musicals in one weekend, photographing pop-punk gigs in arenas and grimy basements, and hanging out with my two very spoiled cats. I look forward to learning more about all the fantastic projects our community members are working on and sharing experiences and new ideas.

Alexander Grieves – Projects & Integrations Administrator / Food & Beverage Operations Manager, Sage Gateshead

I Joined Sage Gateshead in 2013 when I was 17! So I’ve been here quite a while. I only starting using Tessitura when I joined the ICT team in 2019, where my role has developed from first line support to dealing with projects across the organisation. However I will say my knowledge of Tessitura has developed so much over the past year due to our relationship with Tessitura via Extended Services – which has honestly been one of the best things we have done as an organisation.

My role currently at Sage Gateshead could be classed as quite unique – predominately working within the ICT team, and working closely with Tessitura to develop the system and processes to improve the customer experience. This could be anything from TNEW on account credit, developing new processes for Young Musicians Programme recruitment to streamlining the box office reconciliation with the finance team. I also oversee the food and beverage operations, just to keep me busy!

Myself and Shiona both have different experiences of Tessitura that I think will allow us to bring loads to the Tessitura community and hopefully we get lots of ideas from it too!

To help us deliver the best experience for all we would love for you to complete this short survey detailing what you would hope to get out of being part of the community. We hope to deliver our first meeting in June, so let us know if this is something you’d be comfortable with us organising as an in-person event and if there are any topics you’d be keen to explore together.

Collecting Customer's Dates of Birth

My understanding is this cannot be set up on Tessitura as a question on the website, and wondered if anyone else had any advice / methods that worked for them when collecting customers' DOBs? Building an Event: Tessitura Event Setup, Part One.
Monday 5 October, 3.30pm
With responsibilities for event setup shifting across departments during these times, join us in part one of this two-part series where we'll equip you with the skills you need to confidently build an event. We’ll demonstrate some of the key functionality in both Tessitura and TNEW and by the end of the session, we’ll have a functioning event to test online together!

Tessitura & the Donor Lifecycle: Tools to Identify, Cultivate and Steward
Monday 12 October, 2pm
Tessitura can support you with all aspects of fundraising, helping you to identify, cultivate, deepen engagement, and ultimately grow income. To do that Tessitura has a number of tools in place to support you in managing people through the donor cycle. Join us for an overview of Tessitura fundraising functionality, followed by open Q&A.

Maintaining an Event: Tessitura Event Setup, Part Two
Monday 19 October, 3.30pm
You’ve built your event, so now what? Join us in part two of this two-part series to explore tools that can be used to manage and maintain your events. Whether you want to make changes to capacity, pricing, on-sale dates/times or update information for customers during the purchase path during the purchase path, this session will equip you with the skills to do so both efficiently and confidently both in Tessitura and TNEW.
