Scholarship opportunities

Professional development is vital to sustaining the nonprofit arts and culture sector. And the Tessitura Learning & Community Conference is the largest event offering learning and community-building for this sector. For TLCC Washington, D.C., Tessitura is pleased to offer 10 scholarships:

Diversity Scholarship (seven opportunities)
Emerging Leaders Scholarship (three opportunities)

Important scholarship information

Noteworthy dates

All applications and letters of recommendation must be received by April 17, 2024.
The scholarship committee will notify all candidates about its decision by May 10, 2024.
If awarded a scholarship, please confirm your participation by May 17, 2024, and register for the conference by May 31, 2024.

If you do not meet these deadlines, Tessitura reserves the right to rescind the scholarship offer.

Scholarship benefits

Scholars will be awarded complimentary conference registration. This includes:

All sessions
All networking events
All conference meals and breaks (except Tuesday evening, which is a build-your-own networking night)
Access to conference materials and presentations

Scholarship recipient expectations

We require every scholar to:

Attend the full conference and take part in sessions and networking programs to the best of their abilities
Follow our conference code of conduct

Program terms and conditions

Travel and hotel accommodations are not included in the scholarship. Scholarship recipients are responsible for their own travel and hotel arrangements. Recipients are also responsible for obtaining any visas required to enter the United States.
Multiple people from the same organization may apply. However, we will only award one scholarship to any single organization.
For TLCC Washington, D.C., applicants from organizations in North America will be prioritized.
Scholarships are non-transferable.

It's on the third Thursday of every month at 1 pm PT/2pm MT, starting Thursday, January 18th. You can use this Teams link or click the one in the calendar event. (It's the same link, so whatever is most convenient for you.) We look forward to getting to know you, to networking with you, and to learning together.

Career Accelerator Program - Spring 2024 Applications Open

Hey Mountain Region!

Tessitura offers a ten-week Career Accelerator program with the long-term goal of increasing racial and ethnic diversity in the business of arts and culture. In addition to hands-on experience using Tessitura’s CRM platform, participants will join a community of colleagues and mentors providing support and professional networking, and secure access to a library of training materials to expand their knowledge of Tessitura.

The spring session, which is open by application only, will run from February 19 – April 26, 2024 and is offered free of charge. A selection committee of Tessitura staff will select up to 24 participants from among the submitted applications.

To be eligible for this program, applicants must:

Be located in North America
Be at least 18 years of age
Identify as a member of a racial or ethnic group that has been historically excluded from the arts and culture sector
Be interested in beginning or accelerating a career in the business of arts and culture
Be able to commit up to three hours per week during the program for self-paced online learning, group conversations, and small group mentoring sessions

Timeline for the spring 2024 session:

Applications open on Monday, December 11, and are due by Sunday, January 21.
Applicants will be informed of the status of their application no later than Wednesday, January 31.
Accepted applicants will be asked to confirm participation by Sunday, February 11

Program Details

The spring session runs February 19 - April 26, 2024 and is free of charge.

Up to three hours of self-paced online learning per week in either fundraising or ticketing (approx. $500 USD value)
Three 90-minute group conversations with students, mentors, program staff, and invited guests
Five 60-minute small group mentoring sessions

Private online forum for students and mentors
One year of access to the Tessitura Training Center graduate library of video training resources
Full scholarship to the next North American Tessitura Learning & Community Conference (conference fees only, travel and hotel not included; approx. $1600 USD value)

Community DEAI Advisory Committee Application Open

Good Afternoon, everyone!

Today, the application period for the Community DEAI Advisory Committee is open!

For 2024, Tessitura will seat 4 new members on the committee to join 4 current members (Chloe Burton, Clayton Dickson, Carlos García León, and Shenette Swan). They are seeking a broad range of representation and lived experiences, including a representative from Australia/New Zealand, to join in this work.

Commitment

Committee members will serve a two-year term beginning in January 2024. Members are expected to:

Attend and contribute to six meetings held bi-monthly each year (length of meetings ranges from 90 minutes to two hours)
Respond to group emails and collaborate asynchronously in online forms and documents
Participate in DEAI content curation and/or creation meetings
Participate in Tessitura affinity groups as a co-chair of a group or active participant
Monitor the DEAI Forum and respond to forum posts
Agree to and follow our code of conduct for community leaders
Compensation for time and emotional labor will be US$500 per year, paid bi-annually. To learn more about the advisory committee’s aims and structure, please review our charter.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the advisory committee, members must:

Be an employee at a Tessitura member organization
Have participated in the Tessitura community for at least six months. This could involve contributing to forum discussions, attending community group events, and/or attending a Tessitura Learning & Community Conference
Have at least six months of experience at an organization live with Tessitura

Manual event attendance process

Hello Mountain Tessitura folk.

My supervisor asked me to see if other orgs were doing manual event attendance, versus using the scanners. Is that a thing?

I know the system was designed to be used with scanners, but we were wondering if there are in fact cases where a printed list and good old-fashioned checking people in was preferred. If you do manually pull an attendance list (and manually enter your attendees after the fact), can I ask what type of events you do that for? Why does a manual process work for you, in that case?

Clearly you don't want to be spending a whole day checking hundreds of people in when you could spend one hour equipped with a scanner or two and check in the same number of people.

We use manual attendance for the Tours we sell at to facility. Each tour group is only 20 people, so it is not a labor intensive task to manually "scan" attendance after the fact.

The Tessitura Learning & Community Conference (TLCC) brings together passionate and supportive people from across the arts and culture industry. Join us in sharing practical knowledge and advancing the business of arts and culture.

We are looking forward to gathering our community in Orlando, Florida, August 7–9, 2023.

Your perspective matters! Whether you’re new to Tessitura or a seasoned expert, we invite you to submit a presentation proposal. Share your ideas and experiences, and spark conversations with your peers.

We’re actively seeking speakers who identify as Black, Indigenous, Latinx, or a person of color; gender-nonconforming or LGBTQIA+; having a disability; neurodivergent; and other historically excluded identities.

We recognize this might be the first time you are considering presenting. We are here to help. Register to attend our upcoming info session on submitting a TLCC session proposal. It will take place Thursday, March 16 at 11AM EDT | 8am PDT.
