We’re excited to be meeting as a group soon at TLCC Gateshead! Here’s some key information ahead of the conference:

When: 11:30am-12.15pm on Wednesday 6^th March

What: A quick round of conversation-starters to connect attendees, followed by a full group discussion on Access – including website accessibility, ticketing tactics, TNEW and more.

Hello all! Our scholarship application period for TLCC Gateshead (5-6 March 2024) closes this Thursday 16th. Please help us spread word and pass this on to any members of your team who may be interested.

We have five scholarships available:

x2 Emerging Leader

Scholarships will cover the full conference registration fee, but awardees will be responsible for their own travel expenses and lodging.

Applications coupled with letters of recommendation are due by COB Thursday 16th November - more details regarding eligibility and online application links can be found on our website here.

EU Data Insights Community Meetup - Birmingham Hippodrome, 16th October 2023

I hope you've all had a good summer. As we're almost heading into September and beyond, I wanted to highlight an upcoming meetup in Birmingham which might be of interest.

The EU Data Insights Community, co-chaired by Graeme Ellis (Science Museum Group) and Yasmin Bentley (Royal Albert Hall), will be gathering on 16th October from 1pm-5pm at Birmingham Hippodrome.

The agenda is still TBC - it will be a great afternoon of discussions of key topics and connecting with others working with data and Tessitura.

Are you looking for opportunities to grow professionally and personally? Do you want to discover and share new solutions and ideas? Do you love bringing people together to build meaningful relationships? Become a Tessitura Community Chair and lead the Midlands Community Group!

RSVP to this informal session on 8th February at 4.30pm (GMT) to learn how you can volunteer with Tessitura. You can help facilitate connections across regions, genres, interests and affinities.

Lead one of our groups and bring Tessitura members together - you’ll be surprised by the impact you can have on people’s lives, careers, and institutions!

The Role

Tessitura members come to Community Groups to expand their networks, share their expertise, and connect with peers around common interests. Community Chairs volunteer their time to build and lead these groups, and host meetups that bring members together to share best practices and build relationships. You'll:

- develop your leadership skills
- build valuable new networks
- take back tangible ideas and learnings to your work
- be recognised for your contribution internally at Tessitura and in the wider community
- and more...

Each Community Group is led by two to three co-chairs and may also have an extended planning team. Community Groups are expected to meet virtually or in-person at least once per year.

Previous experience in group management or facilitation is not required. Tessitura provides initial onboarding, followed by on-going support and various resources. These include a dedicated UK-based Community Manager and invitations to events led by the community team, enabling you to connect with other Community Chairs globally.

Hello! I'm pleased to share our open call for presenters at TLCC London (11-12 October), to share practical knowledge and revolutionise the business of arts and culture. Whether you’re new to Tessitura or a seasoned expert, a first-time presenter or an experienced speaker, we invite you to submit a proposal for a presentation.

Your voice matters! Share your ideas and experiences, and spark conversations with your peers. We’re actively seeking speakers who identify as being from an ethnic minority; gender-nonconforming; having a disability; neurodivergent; LGBTQIA+; and other historically excluded identities.

Building an Event: Tessitura Event Setup, Part One.
Monday 5 October, 3.30pm
With responsibilities for event setup shifting across departments during these times, join us in part one of this two-part series where we'll equip you with the skills you need to confidently build an event. We’ll demonstrate some of the key functionality in both Tessitura and TNEW and by the end of the session, we’ll have a functioning event to test online together!

Tessitura & the Donor Lifecycle: Tools to Identify, Cultivate and Steward
Monday 12 October, 2pm
Tessitura can support you with all aspects of fundraising, helping you to identify, cultivate, deepen engagement, and ultimately grow income. To do that Tessitura has a number of tools in place to support you in managing people through the donor cycle. Join us for an overview of Tessitura fundraising functionality, followed by open Q&A.

Maintaining an Event: Tessitura Event Setup, Part Two
Monday 19 October, 3.30pm
You’ve built your event, so now what? Join us in part two of this two-part series to explore tools that can be used to manage and maintain your events. Whether you want to make changes to capacity, pricing, on-sale dates/times or update information for customers during the purchase path during the purchase path, this session will equip you with the skills to do so both efficiently and confidently both in Tessitura and TNEW.

The world is listening and responding to social injustice across America and the Black Lives Matter movement. Last month we gathered via Virtual Open Space Discussions to discuss how we, as arts and culture professionals, can support the change that needs to happen in our organizations and in the field.

Please join us as we continue these conversations in another round of Virtual Open Space Discussions. Bring your questions and engage in meaningful discussions with your peers around our theme “Anti-Racism and the Arts and Cultural Sector: A Moment for Response and Ideas, Continued.” This event is open to anyone in the community. Virtual Open Space Discussions Book of Proceedings

I hope you are all staying safe and well!

We were really pleased to be able to host the first Tessitura Virtual Open Space discussions last week. Open Space has become a central part of our physical meetups at TLCC and TEC. It has always felt important that we use our network to provide a means for people to talk about whatever it is that is important to them at that particular moment, and to connect with peers who are thinking about the same issues.

Never has this need to discuss a whole host of things; with a whole host of people; to gather a whole host of opinions been greater – and we’re keen to provide this Open Space forum as a means to facilitate these conversations on an ongoing basis.

Here’s the link to the Book of Proceedings from last week’s discussions – we’re looking forward to planning more of these events, and we’ll post the dates as soon as we have them.

In the meantime – please do feel free to use this thread to post ideas for conversations you would like to be having or discussion formats you would like us to explore.

With the Event Cancellation Utility, you can apply funds from returned tickets to a gift certificate, toward a contribution, to an on account payment method; or process a credit card refund. We'll walk through using this utility, from building a list based on cancellation request Customer Service Issues (CSIs) to sending out receipts after you run the utility.

Allow Gift Aid Claims on Ticket Donations

Hi everyone!

We are pleased to announce an update to the Event Cancellation Utility for UK Members, following the advice from UK Government that donations gifted by ticket-holders in lieu of a refund will be eligible for Gift Aid if a valid declaration exists or is obtained.

The update to the Event Cancellation Utility allows contributions to be processed to an in-scope fund for Gift Aid. If a valid Gift Aid Declaration exists or is obtained, contributions processed using this utility will fall in-scope for Gift Aid and can then be claimed through the standard Gift Aid processes in Tessitura.

I hope you are all staying safe and well and will be able to relax over the Easter Weekend. Our Community is such an important part of Tessitura Network that we want to ensure that opportunities to meet each other, collaborate and share ideas aren't lost whilst we're physically distant.

Starting last week we've been hosting virtual meet-ups so that you can get to know members of Team Europe, your peers, share ideas and connect with each other. We started with a ticketing focus and next week we'd like to get Development and Fundraising staff together, the session is of course open to anyone!

Recent Gift Aid Ruling and Updates to Tessitura Functionality

Hi Everyone,

We hope you have all seen the fantastic news that HMRC have confirmed that ticket income that is donated by a patron, as long as they have a valid declaration, is now eligible for Gift Aid.

We are working on updating the new functionality we released in service packs 15.0.16 and 15.1.9., including the Event Cancellation Utility, to be in line with this new legislation, as well as recommended practices on the Gift Aid process to ensure you retain and gain as much revenue as possible.
