2024 Columbus Community Meetups

Good morning all!

Joanna and I would like to set up a handful of sessions in 2024 where Columbus Tessitura users can meet to collaborate, share knowledge, and ask questions.

Each session would be assigned a topic and modeled like the Tessitura Network topical meetups - Analytical Coffee, Women in Tech, etc.

If you are interested and haven't yet completed the survey, please share your thoughts on meeting spaces, days of the week, times, content, and any other thoughts you might have. The link to respond is below.

Just a reminder that Joanna and I are hosting a meet-up at BalletMet's The Nutcracker on December 19th at the Ohio Theatre.

Packages

Hello, we are looking at doing our first packages in Tessitura.

Could someone share what their setup looks like? We are getting a little confused with the documentation

1) Everything we do is GA because no actual facility or seats exist, our facilities just control inventory of number of people that can attend a class, etc.

so our first question, is to make a package, do all of the performance have to be in one facility? So I am thinking the non fixed or flex?

Will the package be non-renewable but have a fixed set of performances? If yes, then non fixed seat packages can be used.
Will constituents be able to choose the performances for their package? If yes, then flex packages will probably be used, though it is possible to structure fixed seat packages and non fixed seat packages to allow some performances to be removed from the package if a constituent desires. 2) Do we need to create new price types to be used in the package? (If so, do we need new pricing rules?)

3) Season - do we need to add a specific new one or can we put it in an existing one (The base one for TNEW)

4) Can we use our existing TNEW Modes of Sale (Member vs Non Member) or do we have to create new ones, etc?

Columbus Tessitura Community Group is Growing!

Good morning!

My name is Katie Toomey, my pronouns are she/her, and I work for BalletMet Columbus. And I am so happy to announce that I am joining Joanna Hammer of The Wexner Center as co-chair of the Columbus Tessitura Community 👋

In August I attended TLCC in Orlando and had an amazing time, met tons of great people, and learned so much. It inspired me to get more involved in the online community and connect with other users. When the opportunity came up to join Joanna as co-chair of the Columbus group, I jumped at the chance. I also really enjoyed our Columbus coffee meetup at the Roosevelt a few weeks ago and hope to keep the momentum going.

My role at BalletMet is Business Analytics Specialist and Tessitura dba. I have been with BalletMet since 2016 and we have been using Tessitura since 2020. My role has been mostly with the finance department and the dance academy, and more recently I have helped other departments develop analytics dashboards and work on projects to expand the way we use Tessitura.

Joanna and I met up this past Friday and discussed how we can continue to build and grow our Columbus Network of Tessitura users, and we will be rolling out these ideas in the next few weeks. We plan to have one more social meetup before the end of 2023, and will send out a survey to see what kinds of meetups and events people would like to see us plan for 2024. If you have thoughts and ideas, let us know!

Coffee Location Announce! The Roosevelt

Our September 26th coffee meetup will take place at The Roosevelt, at their downtown location. From their website, here are their recommendations for parking:

"We are the downtown coffee shop with a parking lot. You will find our lot on the 6th Street side of the building. If, by chance, the lot is full there are parking meters as far as the eye can see. Parking is not a pain when you come to The Roosevelt."

Checking in one more time to see if anyone is interested in taking Lifeblue up on their offer of hosting a community meeting. Lifeblue is an agency that works with clients on web design and development. They have experience working with organizations that use Tessitura, like the Dallas Zoo.

I approached Lifeblue at the Tessitura conference because I had heard good things about them.... also they had great swag at their table. :) They offered to host a community meeting to present to any organizations who might be interested in their product. I'm for this idea because 1) It's nice to get our group together 2) we might learn something new. That said, I don't want to push an unwelcome product pitch on you all.

If you would be interested in attending a meeting led by Lifeblue, please comment below. If we get a fair number of responses, I'll book it! Otherwise, I'll tell them we are not interested at this time.

Would anyone be interested in a post TLCC coffee chat to talk about what we learned?

Lifeblue, a TLCC sponsor, has offered to host a meeting for our community. While it will be a sales pitch, they will undoubtedly provide drinks, snacks, and some good information. I've been interested in their "Turnstyle" service, where they customize TNEW sites with a slick, user friendly, interface (the Dallas Zoo site is a good example). Would anyone be interested in attending a meeting hosted by Lifeblue?

About Open Space Discussions: Those of you who have attended the Tessitura Learning and Community Conference (TLCC) are familiar with the powerful format of open space discussions. For those who have never attended TLCC, this is your chance to experience a candid exchange with fellow arts and non-profit professionals. Community members (that's us!) propose topics to discuss.... it could be a problem that is puzzling our organization, a big idea that we want to brainstorm, or a nugget of wisdom that we want to share. Some of the best "light bulb moments" come from open space discussions.

I can't wait to join forces with Cleveland for our next meeting!

Where to meet Registration will be in the lower lobby of the Wexner Center for the Arts. If you're lost, a member of our Visitor Experience team will point you in the right direction.

Lunch Coffee and light snacks will be provided at 3PM. If you’re hungry for something a little heartier, our onsite café, Heirloom, offers delicious, locally grown menu items, with vegetarian and vegan options.

Who's going to TLCC Denver?

I'm excited for those of you who are attending TLCC in August! I won't be there this year, but don't let that stop you from joining our Columbus Community Group meetup in Denver. Here is the information I received from Tessitura about it:

Columbus Tessitura Community will be gathering during Neighborhood Networking on Monday, August 15 from 5:30-6:25pm. The format will be a standing reception, and we’ll have networking stickies available for attendees to fill out and wear.

Can't wait to hear about attendees' experiences. Let's do a conference wrap-up in September, so we can see one another's smiling faces. 🙂

In our July meeting, our group brainstormed a number of topics for future gatherings. Since many of you weren't available to attend, I wanted to give everyone the opportunity to weigh in. Development Data Best Practices

Hi everyone! My name is Kristina Cohn from Jazz Arts Group. Thank you for letting me join the group. As a new person to my role and to Tessitura, I was wondering if people in this community would be willing to share some of their best practices in collecting development data. What do you find necessary to have on a constituent account? What has been the best way for you to separate out in memory/honor gifts, grants, and general donations? What are some essential lists that need to be created?

I am also willing to set up zoom or in-person meetings with anyone who would like to meet that way to talk about it. I am so thankful to have attended the TLCC 2021 and have been rewatching as many videos as I can. Looking forward to our next meeting.

Taming the chaos... Is there a simple solution for gathering information about events?

At the Wex, we are always trying to find new and better ways to gather event information from our programmers. I'm looking for ideas from the Columbus community. How do you manage collecting the ticketing, logistics, and marketing data you need in one place?

Here are some of the communication methods we've tried:

Email with Word attachments
Excel Spreadsheets
Forms in teams
Shared Outlook Calendar

Here are the challenges we face:

Events vary widely and have different needs based on venue and program type.
The information that each department needs is slightly different.
Some info (like print copy) works best in a text based program, like Word. Other info (like ticket holds) works best in a table.
The form needs to be easy to fill out, while also including all necessary details.

What methods has your organization tried? I'm interested to hear what has and hasn't worked for others.
