Hi All!
Is anyone using Tess for their concessions or store?
We are currently using it for our coffee bar, but am not sure that it's going super great. Would love to hear some experiences.
Jen
Thanks Peter.
What did you do for receipts? (thinking specifically cash for in person)
Hi Jen,
We at the Calgary Zoo are using Tessitura for our concessions locations, we did have to get a custom receipt created that would print for our food transactions. If you contact Vicki Hewitt the Concession Operations Supervisor, she would be able to answer your questions better for set up that she does.
Thanks Shealene Koen. Do you think you could send me her Vicki's contact info? You can message me here, or send to jen.skelly@humanrights.ca
Your Welcome, we started using Tessitura for concession a couple years ago so she will have some tips she can share I'm sure, its vickiH@calgaryzoo.com
Thank you! An email has been sent.
Thanks Peter Smurlick! I will send an email their way.
Hey Jen - we are using it for both. Essentially for concessions we're selling a voucher. Our concessions don't use Tessitura, so while we say you are purchasing a beer or a glass of wine, you're just paying $10 or whatever amount for a voucher that you can redeem at the bars. It's an actual performance in Tessitura, and there's one 'Beverage' event for every main stage performance. Patrons get a ticket that says what they've purchased and it is handed in at the bars.
As for the store - we dropped our major store site during the pandemic and decided to go with selling in Tess. Our site is custom as well so our developers created an entire set of tables to get the info out of Tess onto our website. It's VERY far from perfect and is absolutely not sustainable now that we're back into regular season mode. Inventory is a nightmare as the physical store doesn't use Tessitura, so what we've done is that the store will 'sell' a certain amount of inventory to Tessitura. We created a new facility for clothing where we use the zones as sizes. Otherwise, DVD's, Blu-Rays and a few other items just use a general admission facility. Our biggest hurdle was taxes and shipping and still is to this day. We are only able to accommodate one shipping amount so can't sell anything that costs more to ship than what we have on the site now. We're discussing moving back to something more retail related.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Mirvish Production is using SalesVu, which is a preferred partner of Tessitura. You can see our shop here: https://mirvish-productions-new.salesvu.com/. We do not sell at any physical location, so everything is online and easier to manage. SalesVu manages the inventory, shipping costs, packaging, discounts (we have offered one-off promotional prices) and then pushes the sales information into a custom screen in Tessitura.
