Town hall: Burnout in the workplace

Join us for a virtual town hall to talk informally about the challenges of burnout in the workplace. Share strategies for supporting yourself and your team. These events are presented by the Neurodiversity & Mental Wellness Tessitura Community. All are welcome.

Burnout seems to be an ever-present feature in our work lives these days. From constant deadlines and short turnarounds to persistent staffing shortages, to managing audience and stakeholders' expectations during a crisis, there are a lot of reasons for overload to build up.

In a recent post on the DEAI forum, Shenette Swann (Marbles Kids Museum) asked,

“In what ways do your organisation's practice the prevention of burnout and provide a greater sense of value for all teammates?”

That forum thread alone collected a wide range of strategies that organisations have gathered to mitigate the risk of burnout and support the recovery of their teams when pressures arise.

To keep this conversation going, we will be running two Town Hall style sessions to talk informally about what challenges you have faced with burnout in the workplace, and to listen and share what strategies and options people have taken to support themselves and their teams.

The virtual meeting will take place through Teams (link below). Closed captioning will be available. You're welcome to join however it is most comfortable for you - camera on, voice only, or text chat.

We’ll be meeting using the Lean Coffee format, which allows attendees to create the meeting agenda by posting discussion questions related to the topic of burnout. Our lean coffee board can be found here if you’d like to suggest topics or questions beforehand, otherwise just come along.

When I went from Ticketing Systems to CRM manager, pretending to write SQL and SSRS reports powered by anxiety alone, & it was support of the network and folks around me that got me through. The amount of code I've been gifted and great ideas I've borrowed is immeasurable.

maybe want to start learning SQL ... or steal that script for rolling back an accidentally batch printed season of tickets.

Hi,

we do piles of imports so I feel this annoyance!

what we’ve done is developed a “translation “ spreadsheet that takes the native format of the report and puts it into the Tessitura import format using lots of references and formulas.

As part of this, we pull a list of all active records every so often and have it as a reference tab to run a lookup against. When it finds a match it adds the ID to that column in the translated tab.

overall the whole spreadsheet has really reduced the amount of time it takes to prepare a file. it’s a treasure.

Importing ticket sales from third parties

Hi All

I just wanted to know what are the ways to avoid creating duplicate constituents when we do a order import. Manually finding duplicates is a time-consuming process. I tried running the import utility and shows potential duplicates however, it still misses a lot of duplicate constituents. Can we create a criteria to match the ones having same name and email address? Any thoughts or ideas?

Hi Soumya,

I do a lot of third party imports and I'm not aware of any easy solution to this! We have gotten Tessi support to adjust our potential duplicate criteria to match on name and email so you could open a support ticket and ask for some adjustments there, but as you might have noticed you can't actually import orders onto those accounts once they are found it just tells you about them. Because we have so many orders to import we end up just creating the duplicates, but I am hoping this year to create a checking process post import for immediately identifying duplicate records and scheduling merges. I'll keep an eye on this in case anyone has come up with creative solutions as its definitely a problem for us!

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has a solve for importing data that doesn't use Roman characters? For example, accents on letters, Chinese characters.

We are trying to import data from our Shopify account (where any character can be used) into Tessitura, which seems to only allow Roman characters. This is therefore requiring we either rewrite the data line-by-line to replace it with Roman characters, or we do not upload those records.

I'm hesitant to restrict users to only using Roman characters in Shopify, as this data is used for international shipping of purchases etc.

Would love anyone's thoughts, or to hear if anyone is having the same issue!

It sounds like you are trying to save unicode characters in a non-unicode field.

A lot of data that can be found in our database is done so in strings of various lenth ie: varchar like the first and last names that are stored in T_CUSTOMER.

To store extended language values and other unicode data, we'd need to use nvarchar columns to store the unicode range of characters. This changes a bit from SQL Server 19

Hey Anna,

Do you have an example of the type of characters that are not importing? Characers like è and é should import correctly.

I know there is an issue with characters such as ā - these cannot be entered for a technical SQL reason. I believe there are plans to support this in future but you'd need to reach out to support to see where that's at.

Billing address - is it required?

Does anyone know, or can point me in the direction of where I might find out, whether we are legally required to capture an address with online credit card transactions in Australia? I'm hoping to gather some information before proposing it to our legal team, in the interest of simplifying our online checkout process.
