Burnout seems to be an ever-present feature in our work lives these days. From constant deadlines and short turnarounds to persistent staffing shortages, to managing audience and stakeholders' expectations during a crisis, there are a lot of reasons for overload to build up.

In a recent post on the DEAI forum, Shenette Swann (Marbles Kids Museum) asked,

“In what ways do your organisation's practice the prevention of burnout and provide a greater sense of value for all teammates?”

That forum thread alone collected a wide range of strategies that organisations have gathered to mitigate the risk of burnout and support the recovery of their teams when pressures arise.

To keep this conversation going, we will be running two Town Hall style sessions to talk informally about what challenges you have faced with burnout in the workplace, and to listen and share what strategies and options people have taken to support themselves and their teams.

The virtual meeting will take place through Teams (link below). Closed captioning will be available. You're welcome to join however it is most comfortable for you - camera on, voice only, or text chat.

We’ll be meeting using the Lean Coffee format, which allows attendees to create the meeting agenda by posting discussion questions related to the topic of burnout. Our lean coffee board can be found here if you’d like to suggest topics or questions beforehand, otherwise just come along.

Importing ticket sales from third parties

I just wanted to know what are the ways to avoid creating duplicate constituents when we do a order import. Manually finding duplicates is a time-consuming process. I tried running the import utility and shows potential duplicates however, it still misses a lot of duplicate constituents. Can we create a criteria to match the ones having same name and email address? Any thoughts or ideas?

Uploading data with non-Roman characters

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has a solve for importing data that doesn't use Roman characters? For example, accents on letters, Chinese characters.

We are trying to import data from our Shopify account (where any character can be used) into Tessitura, which seems to only allow Roman characters. This is therefore requiring we either rewrite the data line-by-line to replace it with Roman characters, or we do not upload those records.

I'm hesitant to restrict users to only using Roman characters in Shopify, as this data is used for international shipping of purchases etc.

Would love anyone's thoughts, or to hear if anyone is having the same issue!

- Ensuring the timely and accurate provision of sponsorship benefits for corporate partners (including ticketing, hospitality and marketing benefits).
- Managing day-to-day relationships with a number of STC’s Corporate Partners.
- Coordinating Business Development CRM activities and the team’s use of Tessitura.

Integrating Tessitura with a venues ticketing software

*Please note I have also posted this in another group, but want to post here to incase and NZ organizations have had similar experience*

Coming from the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra here, we are Aotearoa/New Zealand's national orchestra and tour the country regularly to venues of all sizes.

I'm wanting to share experience/gain advice on how Tessitura can intergrade with ticketing systems of venues around the country.

For example: A lot of the venues we tour to in smaller areas use ticketing systems such as Patron base, which unless you work for the venue, are not very user friendly for external users when it comes to putting seats on hold for the promoter.

As part of the NZSOs ticketing strategy, we offer a membership programme to customers, which is a yearly fee of $10 or $30 that allows members to gain presales and prioirty seating, when they are booking tickets for the concerts they want to see in a year, they can make specific seating requests (most of these are to have an aisle seat, or be in the center of an auditorium). From here, our ticketing team will seat members in their requested seats/areas before a concert goes on sale.

The problem I'm having is putting those seats on hold that we have already sold to venues that don't have interactive software's for venue hirers, at the moment, if we want seats put on 'Promoter Hold' for a venue that uses a software like Patron base, the only way to make this possible is to email the ticketing team at the venue and ask for seats to be put on hold, which does work, but seems like a very old-school was of doing things.

I'm wondering if there are other performing arts organizations out there that have dealt with a similar issue, or if anyone has any ideas in general, of how Tessitura can intergrade with external software's?

What do you have on the back of your tickets?

Hi folks,

Let's talk tickets - like actual physical tickets. Specifically - what is on the back of your tickets!

I'm super curious to hear everyone's opinions and thoughts on two points:

Terms & Conditions
Is this really needed considering folks agree to the T&Cs at the point of sale? Do your tickets have/not have this?
It is often a giant block of text that no one reads - why not have just a line that links to your website? Or a QR code that links to that page?

Black 'security' timing bar/strip
Does this do anything or serve a purpose? Do we just have it because that's what you do?
I've always thought that it does 'something' to help tickets that go into a machine to be scanned - but we scan using handheld scanners.

Please do share your thoughts!
